Description: The Camacho SLR Maduro is an imposing looking cigar with Honduran Filler from the Eiroa’s family farm in Jamastran Valley, ranging in color from dark chocolate to black on its veiny Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. The cigar is firm and heavy for its size, but has an easy draw. The prelight draw test yielded some hints of chocolate and leather that peaked my interest. The SLR Maduro gave me some issues at the start and it took some time and a couple touch ups for the burn to even out, but after an inch or so it didn’t bother me.

The cigar starts out with some heavy cedar and dark chocolate flavors that stay dominant through the first half of the cigar. Surprisingly smooth and easy to smoke and at this point I thought it was pretty much a solid medium bodied cigar, however things changed when I neared the halfway point. This is when the Camacho SLR Maduro became a fuller bodied smoke, the dark rich chocolate hung on, but the woodiness dissipated and a strong pepper flavor came to the forefront. These flavors hung around until the end of the smoke which finally gave up the ghost with an inch to go.

Verdict: Not an overly complex cigar, but a very enjoyable full flavored maduro, I found the chocolate and pepper flavors enjoyable and the cigar was complimented well by a good rum.
