Camacho 10th Anniversary Pre-Release Review @ CigarJack.net
Thanks to a promotion over at Social Cigar I got my hands on a pre-release of the Box Pressed Camacho Corojo 10 Year Anniversary Robusto. This blend was designed by Christian Eiroa to celebrate the family’s 10 years of growing Authentic Corojo tobacco in Honduras.
The cigar is definitely an eye catcher. It has a dark natural wrapper that was a bit fragile. I’m going to attribute part of that to the fact that I’m horribly impatient and didn’t let this cigar rest real long in humidor. If it wasn’t for the cold I was battling I would have lit it up right off the UPS truck. The draw was a touch easier than I typically like, but the cigar was firm had a good heft to it for the size. I picked up a faint big of leather and some spice on the prelight draw check.
The first few puffs were predominately leather and coffee with just a touch of nutty flavor to it. I think these hung on pretty much through the first inch of the cigar. Nearing the end of the first third I thought the cigar had a predominately creamy almond and coffee flavor. These flavors made up the flavor profile from then on, except for spiciness starting somewhere between the halfway mark and the final third. I can’t really place the spiciness, but it left a nice tingling on the tongue.
The burn was good on this cigar, but I had to do a small touch up or two. I think part of this could be extreme temperatures we’ve had here recently. In cold weather I always seem to battle the burn on my cigars a bit more.
Verdict: This is one of Camacho’s best cigars so far. I’m really going to envy the person who wins a box of these in the Anniversary Bash Contest. This cigar has a flavor profile I really enjoy along with a good kick to it. The Camacho 10th Anniversary is definitely one of my favorite cigars so far this year.
Similar Cigars: A hard cigar to place, it is smoother than the Camacho Diploma. If you like a fuller bodied, full strength cigar these will be right up your alley.
