Camacho Triple Maduro VS. Itself @ Matt’s Cigar Journal

Monday, March 24th, 2008

I first reviewed the Camacho Triple Maduro back in May 2007. That review was based on a cello wrapped unbanded Rothschild that was provided to me by Camacho before the official release of this much heralded cigar. I found the cigar to be a pretty decent smoke, but I was not wowed by it. Subsequently, I have been informed by others who also tried one of these unbanded “pre-releasedâ€? versions of the Triple Maduro, that the Triple Maduro which ultimately hit the shelves is much better. I don’t claim to know if there is really any difference between what is on the shelves now versus what I smoked then, but I figured I would put it to the test. It just so happens that I still possess one of the sample smokes I got way back in May. (more…)

Camacho Corojo Maduro Torpedo Review @ Brian’s Random Thoughts

Friday, March 7th, 2008

I reviewed this week for the Stogie Review, the cigar for this review has a tie in to Dogwatch Cigar Radio. Walt and I were originally scheduled to appear on the show about three shows ago at this point. The show’s featured cigar was the Camacho Corojo Maduro, which I’d never tried. A little homework seemed in order, so I picked up a handful of them the week of the recording.

Well, it was sort of like studying for a test in college only to have the professor not show the day of the exam. Due to last minute scheduling issues beyond anyone’s control, our appearance on the show rescheduled for the next week. And a different week means a different cigar. So what do I do with all these smoking Camacho Corojo Maduro Torpedo notes? Well, it was clear. I need to give it a review. So here goes. (more…)

Camacho Corojo Maduro Review @ Tiny Tim’s Cigar World

This is a rare midweek review but I felt it must be posted after I had this cigar. It was, in a word, FANTASTIC!

The cigar: Camacho corojo maduro Robusto (4.5 by 50)

The cigar starts out with a fantastic corojo flavor. The sweetness of maduro comes through after the first half inch. The combination of corojo and maduro produces a great peppery, spicey smoke! The cigar is incredibly smooth, too! It had a great draw; effortless. (more…)

Line: Triple Maduro
Vitola: Torpedo 6 x 54
Origin: Honduras
Wrapper: Honduras (Maduro)
Binder: Honduras (Maduro)
Filler: Honduras (Maduro)
Body: Full
Strength: Full
Box Price: $198 (Box of 21)

Description: I’ve had this cigar sitting in my humidor for a month or two, a gift from Doc Stogiefresh. The cigar is beautiful, and a fantastic work of art. I love the dark maduro contrasting the silver bands. The wrapper is a bit rough looking, but has some crystals on the wrapper. This is one of those cigars that I sat inspecting for a few minutes before lighting it.

Camacho Triple Maduro Torpedo CigarThe Triple Maduro doesn’t pull any punches, starting off with some woody and espresso flavors. It gives off a ton of white smoke while your puffing on it, but not much sitting in the ashtray. I did have some burn issues that required some touch up, but it evened up after awhile. (more…)
